Choices PRC Now - Ending the tragedy of abortionone life at a time.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of heavenly lights."  James 1:17 

As we celebrate Jesus Christ, the most precious gift we have ever received, it is a wonderful time to reflect on what He is accomplishing here at Choices PRC.  His gifts of life and love are abundant as we have the awesome honor of ministering to His daughters who are facing unintended pregnancies or dealing with the emotions of past abortions. 

“Jasmine” came in with great concern that she could be pregnant and left with the gift of new life.  At 20, her life consisted of working at a local factory and partying on the weekends.  Her fears were confirmed when the pregnancy test came back positive.  The baby’s father had dumped her in the last couple of weeks, and she was feeling scared and alone.  The Choices volunteer showed compassion and talked to Jasmine about the life choices that had brought her to this point.  They prayed, and Jasmine stated that she wanted to live a life of purity now; she rededicated her life to Jesus.  Before leaving, she had embraced how much she was loved by God and said she felt happy to have this baby in her life.  Jasmine said she no longer felt alone and vowed to love her baby and set a good example in her life for the baby. 

“Gloria” came into the center asking about plaques in our sister ministry, The National Memorial for the Unborn.  Gloria broke down and wept as she spoke with the Choices client advocate.  At 60 years old, she had never told anyone that she had aborted her only child.  She stated that when she was with a group of women, she always wanted to tell them she had been a mother, too, but now lived with the guilt of her abortion. The Choices volunteer stayed in touch with Gloria and eventually helped her plan a memorial service for her child.  At the end of the service, she praised God for giving her the gift of freedom from guilt and shame.

These women and others like them have new beginnings courtesy of a Savior who came and gave His all for them.  It is a privilege to be a part of His story of redemption as our sisters revel in the good and perfect gifts that were tailor-made for them. 

“Grandchildren are the crown of the aged . . .” Proverbs 17:6

Our clients often come in by themselves, not wanting their parents to know they are using our services. However, clients’ parents come through our doors as well.  Sometimes they come as their unborn grandchild’s greatest advocate.  And sometimes they come pushing for their daughter or son to abort that grandchild.  For some of our clients, choosing life means losing their support system.

When Jessie* found herself pregnant, she and Will were without a place to live and without the background to know anything about raising a child.  They were feeling very alone.  Choices PRC was there to advocate for the life of their child, to cheer them on and to refer them to other organizations and services that would benefit them.  They were able to learn what to expect with pregnancy and parenting through Choices’ Earn While You Learn program.  But they needed more.  Learning of their situation, Will’s grandmother, Miss Clarice, took them in and became the full-time champion this scared, abortion-vulnerable couple really needed.

Miss Clarice was there to help Jessie with her EWYL homework and to coach her in the delivery room.  She is still there sharing her wisdom as they raise baby Isaiah.  With her encouragement, they will soon become husband and wife.

Miss Clarice and Jessie brought Isaiah to the center so we could meet him.  Miss Clarice thanked Jessie’s client advocate for being a “blessing and encouragement.” But in reality, she has been blessing, encouragement and inspiration to us.  And we couldn’t help noticing that holding her great-grandchild, she beamed as though he was her crowning glory.
